Manchester City eyeing move for Fulham’s Antonee Robinson

Reports stemming from England over the weekend have linked Manchester City with Antonne Robinson.

Antonee Robinson’s Fulham stint

Antonee Robinson joined Fulham at the start of the 2020/21 campaign after impressing with Wigan.

The Cottagers paid a minimal fee for the American, believed to be less than £2m.

Despite having no top-flight experience to his name before this past season, Scott Parker opted to hand Robinson a starting role fairly quickly.

The left-back, who can also be used as wing-back in a back-five, featured 28 times for Fulham as they failed to avoid relegation on their return to the Premier League.

Man City eyeing Antonee Robinson

Whilst Fulham are now gearing up for another season in the Championship, it appears Robinson could once again find himself plying his trade in the English top-flight next term.

According to the Sun, Robinson, who is contracted to Fulham until 2024, is of interest to Manchester City:

Meanwhile, Manchester City are setting up a shock move for Fulham’s USA  left-back Antonee Robinson.

The Athletic have previously suggested that Man City could be eyeing up a cost-effective left-back in the summer window.

And it appears that Robinson fits that bill, with the Sun claiming that Man City would have to pay around £10m to land the defender.

Though not mentioned in the report, Robinson’s arrival in Manchester would surely point toward Benjamin Mendy leaving?

At present, all of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Joao Cancelo, Mendy, Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake can operate in the left-back role.

And given Mendy’s injury record and lack of minutes last season, he does seem to be the most obvious option to be moved on?
